Psalm 5:1-3 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto Thee will I pray. My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto Thee will I pray. My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up. — Psalm 5:1-3

Prayer: "Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help" Psalm 5"

GRACIOUS GOD, our Heavenly Father! To call Thee by this glorious title is at once to give Thee praise, and place ourselves in right relation to Thee. To know that Thou art God, and to know that the Great God is our loving Father, is to have all prayers heard before they are asked. "Before they call upon Me, I will answer them"; this is Thy promise to us. "I am more willing to hear, than they to call," is Thy lament and challenge. Thus entreated, we turn trustingly to Thee in every time of trouble. Guide us by Thine eye. Build us up into Thy likeness. Feed us on Thy love, and keep us pure in life and love. Be patient with us in our ignorance. Be our knowledge and wisdom, for there is none else to whom to go.
Forgive us all our faults and follies. Help us to forgive others as graciously as Thou dost us. We place ourselves in Thy care, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Psalm 5:2 My God, unto Thee will I pray

HOLY Father, we thank Thee for the privilege of prayer. It is of Thine amazing goodness that we are permitted to pray, and of Thine infinite wisdom that our prayers are answered. Our gratitude goes out to God for life and health, and all the blessings which come to us. Above all other blessings, we are grateful to Thee for the Saviour. In thinking of the blessings so graciously bestowed upon us, our hearts adopt the words of Scripture — "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable Gift." We lay ourselves at Thy feet, most Holy One; we adore Thy Great and Holy Name. Thou alone art God, and beside Thee there is none else. Do Thou bless our home, and guide us, to make it such a home as Thou wouldst have it. Sanctify our relations to one another, to become all that God has planned for our lives. Bless, we pray Thee, all other families, our neighbors and friends, together with the stranger afar off; though an enemy, hear us for them, most gracious Father, and give to them every good thing we would ask for ourselves. Bless our country. Give the spirit of wisdom and sound judgment to all civil officers and those in authority. So overrule, that peace shall be maintained among all nations. Let Thy Kingdom come. Speed the glad day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess Him Lord to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

MOST Gracious Father, we lift up our hearts unto Thee, from Whom alone comes our strength. Help us to trust Thee so wholly that we trust Thee in the dark. Thy mercies are fresh every morning and renewed to us every night. Help us to praise Thee for Thy goodness and to rest in Thy love. Thou knowest what we have need of before we ask Thee. Grant us all that Thou seest we need. Save us from suffering and want, from sickness and misery, from doubt and perplexity, from temptation and sin. Teach us that Thou carest for us, and nothing can harm us or separate us from Thy love. Relieve us from anxiety and fear, that our minds may be at leisure from themselves to soothe and sympathize. Make us useful in the world in which Thou hast placed us, and zealous in service to Thee. Forgive us our sins, in Jesus Christ; give us Thy Spirit to dwell within us, and grant us the joy of conscious communion with Thee. Conform us ever more closely to Thine image as Thou hast revealed it to us in Jesus Christ; lead us in the paths of holiness; and take us at last unto Thyself to dwell forever in Thy presence, the recipients of Thy favor and love. And. all we ask, we ask in the Name and for the sake of Thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Heavenly Father, we bow in Thy presence in child-like confidence, knowing that Thou art able and willing to hear our supplication, and graciously answer our prayer for thy guidance during this day, which will be a day of opportunity, of blessing, of responsibility, and of testing. Grant us as a family Thy benediction and the special direction of Thy Holy Spirit, so that in all our ways we may acknowledge Thee, and in all our undertakings and in the performance of our tasks we may please Thee, and worthily represent Thee. Bless us individually and collectively, and make us a blessing to all over whom we shall have the opportunity of wielding an influence today. May the meditation of our hearts and the utterances of our lips be acceptable in Thy sight, and may the gracious promise be fulfilled on our behalf: “As thy day, so shall thy strength be.” Since each day hath its own peculiar temptations and trials, may we be able this day to cope with all our adversaries and successfully conquer them, leaving our impress for good on all with whom we may come in contact. May we realize this day, as never before, the truthfulness of the promise: “The path of the just is as a shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” In Jesus’ name we ask it. Amen.
